Writing has always been an important part of Mabel Ginest’s life, and she knew at a very young age that she wanted to be an author. One of her earliest attempts at creating the next bestseller was at seven years old when she wrote an amalgamation of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and the Greek myth of the Minotaur. Since that time, she has greatly enjoyed using her fertile imagination to craft innumerable stories, all with a quirky, fantastical bent to them—she still hopes to hit the bestseller list someday, but as long as she can write she’s happy. During the summer months, Mabel works in a local greenhouse and has amassed quite a bit of information about a variety plants…which she often uses to her advantage in her writing. She currently lives on her family’s farm with her cat, Polly, and far more books than she has bookshelves.

Writing has a unique power, and Alex Child is just smart enough to know that he's nowhere near smart enough to accurately describe it. Between working half as hard as he should and twice as hard as required at his day job, he continues pursuing that indescribable emotional swell from relating to a literary character and sharing their experiences. He hopes his story brings you even just a portion of that rush.

Jesse Chen is a walking Asian-American stereotype trying his darndest to shoulder two generations of immigrant expectations. You’ve heard this story before: piano lessons, math competitions, teacher’s pet—tack on an insecurity complex and nonexistent social skills, and you’ve almost got the full picture. He graduated from Harvard and sold his soul to a bank in New York, but everything changed when he began writing in the fall of 2019. It began with crafting stories on Reddit. It grew into contest entries and finally led to penning a full manuscript. The rush of developing a story, honing the prose, and sharing that emotion—it was something else. His heart became set on a new dream; to write life-changing books for kids.
He wrote “Aspect of Hunger” in Collective Fantasy.
